The Killam School Building Committee met this past Monday, August 7, 2023 at 7pm. Lindsey Fulton (Killam Principal) and Derek Pinto (Director of Finance and Operations for RPS) were introduced to the committee. Lindsey replaced Sarah Leveque and Derek replaced Susan Bottan as non-voting members. The committee was also introduced to Tom Ollila who works for the Reading Municipal Light Department.
The committee discussed and then voted to approve Suzanna Yeung as the Collier’s Project Manager who will work with Mike Carroll on this project. Her name will be submitted to the MSBA for their approval.
The MSBA proposed 2 possible schedules for the Designer Request for services. One was a bit more aggressive than the second. The committee discussed and decided to pursue the more aggressive schedule knowing that unexpected delays would default us to the less aggressive schedule. In this schedule, the ad would appear in the Central Register on September 13, 2023, and bids would be due back to the District on October 11, 2023 which would allow for the application to be delivered to the MSBA by October 19, 2023.
There will be an Owner’s Project Manager (OPM) kick off meeting on Wednesday, August 9th and the committee voted on a Designer Selection Sub-Committee which will consist of Nancy Twomey, Ed Ross, Karen Gately-Herrick and Carla Nazzaro. This sub-committee will review bid submissions, conduct interviews and make a recommendation to the larger building committee. The next meeting is scheduled for August 21, 2023 at 7pm.
