The Town of Reading and the Pleasant Street Center are pleased to announce that applications are now open for the 2026–2027 Senior Property Tax Work-Off Abatement Program. This program offers eligible residents age 60 and older the opportunity to reduce their property tax bill by contributing service to the town.

Participants may earn up to $1,500 in tax abatement by completing up to 100 hours of service in a variety of roles. The program is designed to support older adults in remaining active and engaged in the community while easing financial pressures.

Space is limited to 10 participants, and income eligibility requirements apply. An informational session will be held on Tuesday, April 21 from 1:30–2:30 PM at the Pleasant Street Center.

For more information, to register for the information session or to apply, please contact the Pleasant Street Center at 781-942-9034 or reach out to Janet Dubow at 781-942-6608.
