Several Reading businesses were recognized among the region's best in Northshore Magazine's 2026 Best of the North Shore (BONS) awards, earning both Readers' Choice and Editors' Choice honors across the publication's SHOP, RENEW, and DINE categories.
The annual awards, announced by Northshore Magazine, celebrate standout businesses across the region based on reader voting and editorial selections. This year's winners span six broad categories, including dining, shopping, wellness, recreation, living, and beverages. Readers can view the complete list of winners on the publication's Best of the North Shore 2026 page.
Reading businesses claimed awards in fashion, fitness, skincare, pet retail, medical aesthetics, and dining, highlighting the town's growing presence among the North Shore's most recognized local establishments.

Aine's Boutique Leads Local Winners

Among the most decorated Reading businesses was Aine's Boutique, located at 662 Main St. The downtown shop earned Readers' Choice awards in three separate shopping categories: Women's Clothing, Accessories, and Jeans.
The magazine described the business as a "downtown Reading favorite" known for carefully selected fashion, jewelry, gifts, and accessories. Owner Julie Centrella's background as a buyer and stylist was cited as contributing to the boutique's distinctive and curated selection.

Fitness and Wellness Businesses Recognized

Simply Fit & Fun, located at 1 General Way, won Readers' Choice awards for both Specialty Fitness Class and Pilates Class. The publication highlighted the studio's mission of making fitness accessible to everyone and noted its diverse class offerings, which range from yoga and Zumba to trampoline workouts and cardio kickboxing. Complimentary childcare was also recognized as a standout feature.
Meanwhile, LaserCare Cosmetic Center at 2 Haven St. captured Readers' Choice honors in two categories: Med Spa and Laser Hair Removal. The center was praised for its medically supervised environment, individualized treatment plans, and focus on client comfort.
Another Reading winner in the wellness sector was BM Skincare/Boston Microneedling, which earned the Readers' Choice award for Skincare. Founder Despina Alves was recognized for developing a line of medical-grade skincare products aimed at helping clients maintain their results beyond in-office treatments.

Pet Owners Vote for Everything But the Dog

Downtown Reading's Everything But the Dog was selected as the Readers' Choice winner in the Pet Boutique category. Located at 2 Haven St., the specialty retailer was recognized for its wide selection of canine-focused products, including treats, toys, accessories, apparel, and pet beds.
The magazine noted that the shop welcomes dogs to accompany their owners while shopping, helping make it a favorite destination among local pet lovers.

Sweet Success for Cupcake City

In the dining awards, Cupcake City earned Readers' Choice recognition as the North Shore's best destination for cupcakes. Located at 137 Main St., the bakery was praised for its rotating selection of fresh cupcakes, seasonal offerings, and options for customers seeking gluten-free and vegan treats.
Owner Karin DiNapoli, who started as a home baker, was also recognized for operating a mobile cupcake truck available for private and corporate events.

Post 1917 Earns Editors' Choice Award

Reading's lone Editors' Choice honoree in the dining category was Post 1917, which received the award for "Best Neighborhood Steakhouse."
Located in the former post office building at 136 Haven St., the restaurant was recognized for its variety of prime steak offerings, seafood selections, shareable plates, and consistency since opening in 2024. The magazine highlighted chef-owner Jason Carron's concept as one of the North Shore's standout destinations for steak and elevated casual dining.
In total, seven Reading businesses received recognition in the 2026 Best of the North Shore awards:
