“Five years of progress celebrated as Reading Public Schools prepares for new leadership“

The School Committee recognized Superintendent Dr. Thomas Milaschewski for five years of leadership of Reading Public Schools during a “Focus on Excellence” presentation at its June 4th meeting.

Led by Chair Shawn Brandt and fellow committee members, the recognition highlighted key accomplishments during Milaschewski’s tenure, including advancements in early literacy, the expansion of innovation pathways at Reading Memorial High School, and a continued emphasis on leadership development throughout the district. Members also pointed to efforts to strengthen district culture and foster collaboration among educators, students, and families.

Committee members credited Milaschewski with guiding the district through a period of progress and organizational growth, noting improvements in instructional programming and a sustained focus on student opportunity and achievement.

The recognition comes as the district prepares for a leadership transition. Milaschewski will depart Reading Public Schools to become Head of School at Gulliver Preparatory School in Miami, Florida, effective July 1, 2026. Incoming superintendent Dr. Henry Turner is set to take over leadership of the district following Milaschewski’s departure.

In his closing remarks, Milaschewski thanked students, staff, families, and the broader community for their support and partnership over the past five years, reflecting on the shared work that shaped the district’s recent progress.
