Champions Indoor Golf Approved for All-Alcohol License in Reading
The Reading Select Board unanimously approved a new annual all-alcohol restaurant license for Champions Indoor Golf, a sports entertainment venue set to open at One General Way (Unit 90) in the 128 Marketplace Plaza. The vote passed 4–0 during Tuesday night’s meeting, following a brief public hearing and presentation by the business’s representatives.
Champions Indoor Golf will feature state-of-the-art golf simulators, a casual dining menu including bar-style pizza and air fryer items, and a full-service bar. The venue aims to provide a year-round indoor golf experience for players of all skill levels, with plans to host leagues, lessons, and youth programs.

Attorney Matthew Porter, representing the business, emphasized that alcohol service would be secondary to the facility’s primary focus on golf and recreation –
This is not a bar,” Porter said. “It’s a gathering place for golf enthusiasts, families, and the community.”
The proposed license manager, Aaron Croce, and principal Andrew Gildea were both present and confirmed that all staff will be alcohol TIP-certified. The business also plans to operate a minimal kitchen to meet Reading’s restaurant license requirements.
Select Board members expressed enthusiasm for the concept and praised the team’s commitment to responsible alcohol service:
I don’t golf, but I think it’s a great idea,” said board member Carlo Bacci. “It’s a great location, and I appreciate the landlord being here to show support.”
The license now heads to the Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission (ABCC) for final approval, a process that typically takes several months. Champions Indoor Golf hopes to open its doors in early summer 2026.
