READING β€” Chief David Clark is pleased to share that the Reading Police Department is continuing its tradition of honoring graduating high school seniors by wearing a “Rocket” patch throughout June.

Reading Memorial High School seniors graduated on Friday, May 30. Members of the Reading Police Department, including School Resource Officers, will wear the special patch on their uniforms throughout June to honor the seniors. The patch features the high school’s logo and is named the “Rocket” patch in honor of the school’s mascot.

The patch is available to members of the public who donate $10. The Police Department is partnering with the Reading Food Pantry for this initiative and all proceeds from patch sales will benefit the pantry.

Residents and community members who would like to receive a patch should send a self-addressed stamped envelope to Community Service Officer DaLonn Pearson at the police station, 15 Union St., Reading, MA 01867, along with a check for $10 or more made out to the Reading Food Pantry.

“We are proud to honor the accomplishments of our high school seniors by wearing this badge,” said Chief Clark. “On behalf of the Reading Police Department, we extend our sincerest congratulations to the graduates. We wish them all the best as they continue into post-graduate life.”

For more information about the β€œRocket” patch program please contact Officer Pearson at dapearson@readingma.gov.
