Reading’s town election is quickly approaching, with early voting beginning at Town Hall on Saturday, March 29. We have two open School Committee seats and it would be a missed opportunity if one of them isn’t filled by Lara Durgavich. She has described our district as a gem and she is a diamond candidate.
Visit her website: DurgavichForSC.com. Lara has the experience and insight to serve our town in a time when public schools everywhere grapple with the uncertain future of the Department of Education and what that means for students, families and teachers.
Lara is a parent of children in the Reading Public Schools and has been my neighbor for ten years. She is a skilled educator with high expectations for our district. I am confident she will be a strong voice for our teachers and as a scientist, she will rely on data to drive decision-making. Our district thrives because of our amazing teachers and their support from the Superintendent, who reports directly to the School Committee. The Committee has worked so well together over the last few years and now is the time to elect Lara.
Please do not head to the polls until you view the candidate forum hosted by our Town Democratic and Republican Committees. I know you’ll be impressed by Lara.
It is critical to get this right on April 8. Turnout is always low for our local elections and races are often decided by a handful of votes. Please watch the forum, spread the word to your friends and neighbors about Lara and the election, and vote on or before April 8.
