The Select Board will be meeting tonight at 7:00pm in the Select Board meeting room at Town Hall. The first item on the agenda is an Executive Session: Purpose 2: Conduct strategy session in preparation for negotiations with nonunion personnel or contract negotiations with nonunion personnel โ€“ Selected Town Manager Candidate, Matthew Kraunelis. The board met 10 days ago, on a rare Saturday meeting and voted 4-0 on Matthew Kraunelis as Readingโ€™s next Town Manager. After executive session tonight, there is a vote to execute an employment agreement with Matt regarding the contract.

Afterwards, there is a vote on setting a special election date to fill the Select Board Vacancy of Jackie McCarthy who resigned earlier in the month. The board spoke briefly regarding the options at their last meeting and were focused on a date after April Town Meeting or combining with the September election. The cost savings is roughly $10,000.

Lastly, there will be a vote to appoint new Volunteer Appointment Subcommittee (VASC) members. Previously Chris Haley and Jackie McCarthy were the two members in these roles but with Jackie now gone, the board needs to appoint two new members. The only member not eligible is Chris Haley as you cannot serve 2 consecutive years on the VASC.
