“Reading’s Birch Meadow Park Phase II Completes Major Redevelopment“
After nearly a year of construction, the Town of Reading has officially reopened Birch Meadow Phase II, unveiling upgraded playground equipment, new basketball courts, improved pathways, and enhanced park areas to the public.
Reading Community Services announced Friday, May 22, 2026, that the popular recreational space is now available for community use following the completion of the project, which began in July 2025.

We would like to sincerely thank the community and surrounding neighborhoods for their patience, understanding, and continued support throughout the Birch Meadow Phase II project,” town officials stated. “We are excited to see residents and families enjoy this newly redeveloped space for many years to come.”
The redevelopment significantly enhances the park’s recreational offerings, providing modern facilities for children, athletes, and families. However, officials are asking visitors to respect the ongoing establishment period for the new landscaping.
All newly seeded grass areas will remain roped off for the next several weeks. The town noted that periodic watering of the grounds will continue during normal workday hours while the park remains open to the public.
Project delays were attributed to typical challenges associated with outdoor construction, including weather conditions and scheduling complications. Despite these hurdles, town officials emphasized their commitment to completing the work safely and to the highest standards.
Throughout the process, the Town remained committed to ensuring the project was completed properly, safely, and in accordance with all design specifications and quality standards,” the announcement read.

An official ribbon-cutting ceremony is being planned for June to formally celebrate the completion of the project. The date and time will be announced in the coming weeks.
The reopening of Birch Meadow Phase II marks a significant improvement to Reading’s public recreation infrastructure, offering updated facilities that are expected to serve the community for generations. Residents are encouraged to visit the park and take advantage of the new amenities while continuing to show care for the freshly established grounds.
