via the Town of Reading – Winter Storm Hernando Update
As of 6:00 PM this evening, Reading has received about 14 inches of snow, and had more than 50 pieces of equipment clearing the roads for this storm. Reading Public Schools will remain closed again on Tuesday, February 24. The Reading Public Library will open on Tuesday at 9AM and all other Town buildings will be open normal hours.
Republic Services will resume trash and recycling pickup on Tuesday, with all routes operating on a one-day delay.
DPW crews have been hard at work since last night with plowing operations, and expect to have municipal lots plowed and salted by tonight. School parking lots and drop off areas will be cleared on Tuesday.
Salting of high priority roads will begin later this evening, though residents should expect that some roads may remain snow packed for the next day or so. Sidewalks in the Downtown area are expected to be cleared Tuesday, and the remainder of the sidewalks plowed by the Town, including snow removal, will likely take several days to complete. We appreciate your patience as we navigate post-storm clean-ups.
Finally, the on-street parking ban will be lifted at 6am Tuesday morning.
Thank you for staying off the roads today, as well as digging out hydrants and catch basins, and watching out for your neighbors!
