Joining a wave of new openings in Reading’s redeveloped lower Haven district
Another week, another exciting business announces plans to open in Reading. The Bean & Barrel, a café that promises “Espresso. Bakery. Cocktails. Vibes.”, is preparing to open its doors at 47 High Street, in the same building development that will soon welcome the new DiBlasi’s Restaurant, and is already home to longtime staple The Last Corner and newcomer Cordelle Photography. And the growth doesn’t stop there—Virginia’s Café & Market is also slated to open next year on Lower Haven Street, adding another exciting option for Reading residents and continuing the trend of revitalization across town.
Bean & Barrel will take over half of the space previously occupied by Lava Laundry laundromat, transforming it into a stylish destination for coffee lovers and cocktail enthusiasts.
Owned by Giuseppe Fodera, Bean & Barrel aims to deliver a unique experience by blending artisanal coffee, fresh baked goods, and craft cocktails in a stylish, welcoming environment. The café’s tagline, “Crafted with intention — served with style,” reflects its commitment to quality and atmosphere.
The café has already started building buzz on social media, with its Instagram account @bean_and_barrel_cafe teasing followers about the upcoming opening. While the official launch date has not yet been announced, locals can expect a space designed for both casual coffee breaks and evening gatherings.
