Help protect the environment at a volunteer event to remove Glossy Buckthorn, an invasive species!
Invasive species cause ecological damage. They outcompete native plants and provide no value to native animals, birds, and insects.
Pulling buckthorn is easy and rewarding! This event is open to people of ALL AGES. October 18th from 9am – 1pm.
Remember to bring: Long pants, Long shirt, Work gloves, Bug spray, Water
Leave at home: Power tools, herbicides, or chemicals – leave that to the professionals!
Signups are in 1 hour blocks – feel free to sign up for as little or as much of the day as you’d like!
This work will be rain or shine (except in the event of dangerous weather).”
Location:
Drive down Strout Ave and enter the compost area. Go straight up the hill and park in the upper lot.
Volunteers and signage will lead you to the worksite, which is at the intersection of Fire Road 4 and 7 (a 5 minute walk).
