In July, we noted that the Dunkin Donuts near Jimbo’s was slated to close after 20+ years, with rumors suggesting a taco restaurant would replace it. Now, at the end of August, it’s been confirmed that something entirely different is taking its place.
In a delightful twist for Reading, the former Dunkin location is being transformed into a vibrant Brazilian ice cream, coffee shop, and bakery, set to open soon. This new establishment will bring a taste of Brazil to the community with authentic baked goods, bold Brazilian coffee, and a variety of ice cream flavors. Inspired by places like Padaria Brasil in Framingham, the shop promises a lively atmosphere and a menu blending Brazilian flair with classic treats. This exciting addition is poised to become a local hotspot, offering residents a unique culinary experience right on Main Street.
What is Brazilian ice cream? Known as *sorvete*, Brazilian ice cream stands apart from American ice cream due to its unique cultural influences, ingredients, and adaptation to Brazil’s climate. It often highlights tropical fruits such as açaí, cupuaçu, jabuticaba, and cajá, which are uncommon in U.S. varieties, reflecting Brazil’s rich biodiversity.

No specific opening date has been set, but the owner is frequently observed working inside daily. They are presently awaiting the arrival of specialized Brazilian ice cream machines shipped from Brazil. We’ll be sure to keep you updated.

I like this plan! Sounds nice!
