READING — Chief David Clark is pleased to share that the Reading Police Department will continue its participation in the Melanoma Patch Project throughout May, offering special patches to raise awareness of the skin cancer, or melanoma.

The Reading Police Department will wear a special patch on their uniforms in May to support National Melanoma Awareness Month. The patch will also be available to members of the public for $10.

All proceeds from patch sales will go to IMPACT Melanoma, a non-profit group focused on improving melanoma prevention through awareness, care and teaching.

Residents, community members, and donors who would like to receive a patch should send a self-addressed stamped envelope to Community Service Officer Kristen O’Shaughnessy at the police station, 15 Union St., Reading, MA 01867, along with a check for $10 or more made out to IMPACT Melanoma.

“Our continued partnership with IMPACT Melanoma is extremely meaningful to our Department and the community,” said Chief Clark. “We are honored to be able to supplement the work this outstanding organization does in spreading awareness of melanoma.”

For more information, call 781-942-6761 or email CSO O’Shaughnessy at koshaughnessy@readingma.gov.
