Today, January 2nd 2025, the Town of Reading and its contractor Mayer Tree Service will begin work thinning dead red pine trees in several areas of the Town Forest. This work involves the use of heavy equipment. Please use caution and stay alert while enjoying the forest during the work period, and avoid the areas where work will be taking place, such areas will be blocked off with sawhorse barricades including signage stating ‘Tree Work Ahead – Trail Closed.’

The work is expected to last 2-3 weeks. Please see the map below for specific locations in red, and reach out to DPW Assistant Director Michael Kessman 781-942-6686 or Mkessman@ReadingMA.gov with any questions.
