Explore the benefits of reading with a book group at the Reading Public Library!

Reading, MA—You’ve heard the news and seen the studies – reading is an activity that can help reduce stress, improve your vocabulary, social connections, and even sleep! If you want to expand your reading, consider one of four RPL book groups. Our book groups meet monthly and are open for all to join at any time. Books are available in various formats, depending on availability, and we can often accommodate large print and audio formats.

Are you a non-fiction enthusiast? The Real Story Book Group, led by an RPL librarian, is a book group of engaging discussions about history, current events, memoirs, science and nature, health and wellness, and other great topics featured in rotating selections on the second Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm. The next meeting is on December 11, and the book selection is The Feather Thief: Beauty, Obsession, and the Natural History Heist of the Century by Kirk Wallace Johnson.

Fact or Fiction Book Group covers both fiction and non-fiction! This participant-facilitated adult reading group meets the third Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm for lively, insightful reactions to a title. On December 17, we’ll discuss Good Night, Irene by Luis Alberto Urrea.

The Studio 64 Book Group explores different genres, formats, eras and narrative structures in a lively meeting held on the fourth Friday of the month at 10:30 am. This month’s discussion, on December 27, features Ephemera, by Briana Loewinsohn.

Have you read any good books lately? Stop by the Word of Mouth Book Group the last Tuesday of the month at 10:00 am and share! Join this informal monthly discussion of what people are currently reading, next on December 31.
