Town Clerk Laura Gemme has provided the second election update for the May 14, 2024 special local election for the single Select Board vacancy previously held by Jackie McCarthy. Melissa Lee Murphy of Van Norden Road, previously papers on March 12th and returned them the next day for certification. Mark Delaney of Beacon Street, pulled his nomination papers on March 13th but withdrew them on March 18th. Tara Jean Gregory of Pleasant Street pulled papers today.
Nomination papers for the Select Board are now available at the Town Clerk’s Office. Candidates for elected offices must obtain at least fifty (50) certified signatures to qualify for placement on the May 14th ballot. Nomination papers are available until 5:00 PM on Tuesday, March 26, 2024. Nomination papers must be submitted to the Town Clerk for certification no later than 5:00 PM on Tuesday, March 26, 2024.
It should be noted that this term only runs until the local April 2025 election, it is not a 3 year seat but the balance of McCarthy’s term.
