The Reading Municipal Light Department (RMLD) invites drivers, owners, and customers to attend the annual free Electric Car Show on Sunday, August 14, 2022, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. The event will be held in the Swain Green parking lot located at 140 Middlesex Avenue, Wilmington during the Wilmington Farmers Market. Last year’s Show was enjoyed by many and provided a casual setting to learn more about increasingly popular electric vehicles.

A variety of plug-in electric vehicle models will be on display from area auto dealerships and local EV owners. Attendees can learn about the various makes and models and talk to EV owners about their experiences. Information on home and public charging stations, electric vehicle incentive programs, and RMLD rebate programs will also be available. This family-friendly event will also include complimentary snacks and a giveaway.

RMLD is looking to build upon the success of last year’s event, which was well received by guests and participants alike. Along with answering questions about how electric vehicle ownership impacts their lifestyle, EV ambassadors fervently showcased their vehicles and even displayed show-stopping features like Tesla’s autonomous Smart Summons function.

β€œIncreasing the adoption of electric vehicles is a component in RMLD’s ongoing decarbonization efforts as we progress toward a more sustainable future,” said RMLD Interim General Manager Greg Phipps. β€œWith gas prices at record highs and with the proliferation of new EVs entering the market, we want to share more about electric cars so they will be better equipped to consider purchasing an EV for their next vehicle.”

Battery and plug-in electric vehicles offer significant benefits including reduced overall ownership costs for car and truck owners and reduced carbon tailpipe emissions.

For more information on this event, electric vehicles, and RMLD rebates, please visit https://www.rmld.com/home/news/join-us-electric-car-show.  RMLD customers who own a plug-in EV and want to showcase their vehicle at the event can register here.
