Seniors from The Residence at Pearl Street recently visited RISE Preschool for a special intergenerational St. Patrick’s Day celebration.

The morning was filled with Irish songs, leprechaun lessons, and big smiles from both students and seniors.

Our residents had the absolute pleasure of visiting RISE Preschool for St. Patrick’s Day, and it’s safe to say our hearts are full,” said Beverly Curry, Resident Engagement Director at The Residence at Pearl Street when reflecting on the visit.

Connecting generations is something both the RISE Preschool and The Residence at Pearl Street greatly value. Research shows that intergenerational experiences benefit both children and older adults—helping kids build reading skills, strengthen socioemotional development, and reduce depressive symptoms, while older adults often see reduced social isolation, greater life satisfaction, improved cognitive function, and even lower risks of falls and frailty.

“The highlight? Hearing the students share their favorite things about school. One little one said their favorite part was ‘meeting our new friends today’ (meaning us!),” added Curry. “Counting the days until our next visit!”
