The Women’s League of Reading’s (WLR) Holiday Homes Decorating contest and fundraiser at the end of 2025 helped the organization contribute over $1,500 to the local non-profit, Mission of Deeds.
During the contest, Reading residents were invited to register and decorate the exterior of their homes in their most creative and spirited holiday displays; community people then drove by the homes and voted for their favorites. In addition, viewers were encouraged to make a small donation to the Mission of Deeds, which was a key factor in making the fundraiser such a success. 14 homes participated and three homes were deemed winners, each receiving a gift card to a local business of their choice.
In addition to the charitable support of the community, business sponsors had a large impact and provided a substantial boost to the event. The 2025 Holiday Homes contest was sponsored in part by McKinnon’s Supermarkets of Wilmington, Sharon VanHorn, a local Realtor®, The Goddard School of Reading, and iDeal Eyecare.
WLR President Alli Demers said “The Mission of Deeds is an incredible organization right in town helping neighbors in need to fill their homes with essentials. Their impact and volunteerism passion is a cause we should keep in mind all year long!”
