The page has officially turned on the old Green Tomato building. We reported last year that they were in talks about returning but that never materialized. Now, the building that was supposed to become a mixed-use 40R redevelopment at the corner of High and Chute Streets, has been sold.

The Plimsoll Company, the previous owners of the property, were granted a deadline of March 2025 to secure the necessary permits for their planned development. However, with that timeframe now having lapsed, the property has instead transitioned to new ownership through a recent sale. Encouragingly, The Last Corner Restaurant, is secured to continue its operations within the building for at least the next eight years, as stipulated by the remaining term of their lease agreement. Therefore any future 40R development is contingent upon off timeframe.

The new owners have wasted no time in taking proactive steps to revitalize the property. They have already initiated efforts to attract additional tenants to fill the numerous vacant spaces within the building, aiming to enhance its vibrancy and utility. Furthermore, they have begun undertaking essential maintenance and aesthetic improvements, including repairs and enhancements to the building’s distinctive brick facade.

And so begins the next chapter.
