READING – Police Chief David Clark reports that the Reading Police arrested and charged three individuals with OUIs in three separate incidents on Saturday, March 9.

JOHN DARCANGELO, AGE 33, of READING, was arrested and charged with:

  • OUI (Liquor)
  • Negligent Operation of Motor Vehicle
  • Possession of a Dangerous Weapon (Knife)

At about 5:49 p.m., while Reading Police responded to Washington Street, where officers observed two vehicles that appeared to have been involved in a crash.

The vehicles, a gray Honda, and a white Jeep both appeared to have damage consistent with a motor vehicle crash.

The driver of the gray Honda, identified as DARCANGELO, was arrested at the scene without incident.  A preliminary investigation determined that DARCANGELO rear-ended the Jeep twice.

REBECCA DOOLEY, AGE 31, of MEDFORD, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • OUI (Liquor) (Second Offense)
  • Operating Negligently so as to Endanger
  • Marked Lanes Violation
  • Failure to Yield at Intersection

At approximately 8:51 p.m. Reading Police attempted to conduct a routine traffic stop on a blue Nissan that was observed driving erratically on Haverhill Street. The driver continued onto Haverhill Street, through Salem Street near Route 95 South before coming to a stop at a gas station.

Once stopped, officers attempted to conduct a field sobriety test of the driver of the vehicle, DOOLEY.

YVES DAMAS, AGE 31, of LOWELL, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • OUI (Liquor)
  • Marked Lanes Violation
  • Negligent Operation of Motor Vehicle

At around 3:50 a.m. Reading Police was dispatched to 676 Main St., for a report of a single motor vehicle that crashed into a pole.

Upon arrival, officers observed a black Chevy Malibu that appeared to have crashed into a cement pillar. A preliminary investigation determined the vehicle had crashed into a trash bin and a no-parking sign before crashing into the cement wall.

Officers conducted a field sobriety test of the driver and sole occupant, DAMAS.

DAMAS was placed under arrest without incident.

All three suspects were arraigned Monday in Woburn District Court.

I would like to commend our officers for their diligence and professionalism during these three instances,” said Chief Clark. “Driving under the influence is dangerous and puts every member of the public at risk. I applaud our officers for keeping our community safe.

All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
