The Killam School Building Committee met this past Monday, October 30, 2023 at 7pm.

Derek Pinto, the Director of Finance and Operations gave the committee an update about 2 events that he attended.  An MSBA roundtable entitled โ€œDecision-making for the next decade: What the new incentive and regulatory environments mean for smart school facility investmentsโ€ and Story of A Building (Mountain View School in East Hampton MA).

The committee discussed the 4 Request for Services submissions.  The following design firms responded to our RFS:

  1. Feingold Alexander Architects
  2. Lavallee Brensinger Architects (LBA)
  3. Raymond Design Associates (RDA)
  4. Studio G Architects

Tom Milaschewski (Superintendent of Schools), Carla Nazzaro (KSBC Chair) and Filel Maltez (Town Manager) will be attending 2 meetings with the MSBA for the Designer Selection Panel.  At the November 7th meeting the committee will vote on a short list of firms, and presentations and interviews will take place at the November 21st meeting.

The committee had an initial discussion on a project website.  Colliers provided 3 options that will be further discussed at a future meeting:

  • Person from Town will create and run the website, Colliers and the Designer will support by providing any documents, renderings, pamphlets or information needed for the website.
  • Hire 3rd party PR firm to design and maintain website. This would be an extra cost.
  • Website design and maintenance would be the responsibility of Colliers or the Designer, this would be an extra cost to either base contract.

The next meeting is tentatively scheduled for Monday, December 4th at 7pm.

The complete meeting can be seen on the RCTV video below:
