Last night, the Reading Rockets improved to 5-0 on the season with their razor thin victory against the Woburn Tanners. The Rockets beat the Tanners by a score of 38-37 via a mid 4th quarter drive by Quarterback James Murphy who handed it off to Jesse Doherty for the lead. Woburn would score a touchdown late in the 4th quarter to bring them within 1 point of a tie. Woburn then lined up for the extra point but called a time out instead. After the time out, they went for 2 points instead and their pass was intercepted by Reading in the end-zone. That proved to be the pivotal play of the game as Woburn then tried an on-side kick that Reading recovered and took a knee to end the game.

Reading’s victory was John Fiore’s 150th win for the Rockets as their head coach. Quarterback James Murphy ended with 4 TD passes and Jesse Doherty had 8 catches and 3 TD’s.

The Rockets also improved to 2-0 in the Middlesex – Liberty Division with their victory. Their next game is away vs division rivals, the Arlington Spy Ponders (2-2), at 7PM on Friday, October 14th.
