Please be advised that the southern half of Chute Street will be closed for utility work, including water main replacement, on the following dates:
โข Thursday, June 18
โข Tuesday, June 23 to Thursday, June 25
โข Sunday, June 28 (Morning only)
Preventative utility work is necessary to protect local businesses and residents from sudden disruptions in service. Current utility excavation on Chute Street revealed a section of water main in poor condition. If the damaged water main is left in place, there is a significant risk of an emergency water main break during later phases of the Downtown Improvements project due to heavy paving and curbing work. Replacing the water main during a controlled shutdown will greatly reduce the risk of future unplanned disruptions.
Utility work is currently underway at the High Street and Chute Street intersection, with electrical conduit to be placed tomorrow, June 18. Electrical conduit will be placed prior to water main replacement to avoid conflicts between utility crews.
Preparation for the water main replacement will occur on June 23-25, and the pipe replacement will occur the morning of Sunday, June 28 (starting 6:00AM). Any temporary disruption to water service to the adjacent buildings due to the replacement will occur on Sunday, June 28. Additional notification will be sent directly to businesses and residents whose service will be affected by the water main replacement.
