Raise environmental awareness by collecting plastic trash and turning it into public art! Begins July 16 at the Library.

Reading Public Library (RPL), Reading, MA—Come to the Library for a two-day creative event where you’ll learn how to upcycle and about preserving natural resources. Visiting artist Kim Bernard and her PopUpCycler will transform our collected plastic trash into art.

Beginning Wednesday, July 16, bring your #2 plastic milk, water, and juice jugs to the collection point in the library lobby. Over the course of two days, participants will clean, cut, and shred them into a colorful collaborative sculpture installation. Get inspired, branch out, and learn about the importance of preserving our precious natural resources through creativity and community engagement. Registration is required by calling the Reference Desk: 781-942-6703. For more details, see: readingpl.libnet.info/event/13671863

  • Thursday | July 31 | 1-5 pm Sign up to make individual sculptures you can take home.
  • Friday | Aug 1 | 10-5 pm Sign up to contribute to a public art piece we will display at the library.

Kim Bernard creates installations that are public, recycled, interactive, kinetic and raise environmental awareness. www.kimbernard.com

This program is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Reading Public Library.
