via the RPS Central Office – At the December 15th School Committee meeting, they recognized the recipients of the 2022 Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents’ Certificate of Academic Excellence.  This annual award honors seniors across the state who have demonstrated distinguished academic performance and personal contributions to their high school communities. This year’s RMHS recipients are Brendan Manning and Abigail LeBovidge.  Below is more information about Brendan and Abigail, as written by their counselors.  A huge congratulations to Brendan and Abigail on this tremendous academic accomplishment!

Brendan Manning

Brendan Manning is an exceptional scholar, community member, and leader.  He has prepared himself for a career in engineering by taking our most challenging courses and excelling in each one.  In addition to his rigorous course load, Brendan was named a National Merit Commended Student in the fall due to his impressive scores on the PSATs.  Brendan is an avid member of our Robotics Team and has played a critical role in their competitions.  Additionally, he impressively worked his way up through boy scouts and has recently achieved Eagle Scout status.  When not working on robotics or spending time with the eagle scouts, Brendan can be found participating in his senior leadership position with Mock Trial, or performing alongside his classmates in our Marching Band.  RMHS is incredibly proud of Brendan’s achievements and successes and we know he will continue to impress us in his next chapter of life.

Abigail LeBovidge

Abigail LeBovidge is an outstanding student who has dedicated her high school career to achieving academic excellence.  Throughout her time at Reading Memorial High School, Abigail has consistently pushed herself to learn at the highest possible level.  She was a student eager to jump into AP level courses and has found success through her hard work and dedication to learning.  Now, as a senior, Abigail is taking one of the most rigorous course loads offered including four AP classes and is performing exceptionally well!  Earlier this year, Abigail was also named a National Merit Semifinalist, which is a true testament to her work ethic and commitment to her education.  Abigail’s passion for learning extends far beyond the classroom walls as the President of the Science Olympiad team.  Within her role, she works tirelessly to support her teammates and grow the program as a whole.  We are so proud of the time and effort Abigail has put in over her years in Reading Public Schools, and we are excited to see all the incredible accomplishments she will go on to achieve!
