SUMMARY:🗓️ Disaster Mitigation Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Reading’s Hazard Mitigation Planning Committee needs the Public’s help completing the Town’s Hazard Mitigation Plan. This plan serves as a strategy for reducing current and future risks of natural hazards and climate change. The public is invited to share their ideas for reducing impacts associated with natural hazards and to learn about the updated plan on Wednesday\, July 19th. Approved by FEMA\, the plan allows the Town to apply for pre-disaster mitigation grant funding. \nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/82439130592?pwd=UEJ1bmxGK1B2YzJPWWtpNlMydDJndz09 \nMeeting ID: 824 3913 0592 \nPasscode: 364488 \nAt the meeting\, you will have an opportunity to contribute your ideas for making the Town more resilient to natural hazards such as flooding\, snowstorms\, high winds\, and extreme temperatures. This plan is being developed by a Hazard Mitigation Planning Committee comprised of Town leaders and local stakeholders. Jamie Caplan Consulting LLC\, a Northampton\, MA based firm\, is leading this effort on behalf of the Town and the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) approval\, and Town adoption\, of the Hazard Mitigation Plan allows the Town to apply for pre- and post-disaster hazard mitigation grant funds.

SUMMARY:🦟 Mosquito Spraying
DESCRIPTION:On Thursday\, July 13\, 2023\, spraying is scheduled for areas of Reading that are located west of Route 28 and north of Route 129. Also included are roads in the vicinity of Dustin Road\, Berkeley Street\, Bond Street and Mineral Street. The East Middlesex Mosquito Control Project is planning to use a truck mounted aerosol sprayer to apply Zenivex E4 (EPA Reg No. 2724.807) at a rate of 1 oz per acre. \nIf any of the nights are postponed\, spraying will be rescheduled for the following week. \nThe mosquito control product being used is Zenivex E4 (EPA Reg No. 2724.807)\, and it’s being applied at 1 oz per acre. Zenivex E4 is a non-ester pyrethroid and is classified by the EPA as a reduced risk pesticide. Mosquito control applications of Zenivex E4 do not pose a significant risk to people or their pets due to the low toxicity and the small amount used to control mosquitoes. As with any pesticide\, people should minimize their exposure.  If residents see a spray truck approaching\, they are advised to go indoors for a few minutes while the spray dissipates. Residents are also advised to close windows. Beekeepers do not need to take any special precautions since spraying begins after dusk. Zenivex E4 biodegrades rapidly and doesn’t build up in the environment. \nIf residents have any questions related to mosquitoes or mosquito control\, contact the East Middlesex Mosquito Control Project at 781-899-5730. The spray schedule can be found at the Project website at http://sudbury.ma.us/emmcp/

SUMMARY:RCTV Casino Night Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:RCTV Studios is excited to announce its upcoming Casino Night fundraiser on Saturday\, May 13\, at RCTV’s studio at 577 Main Street. The night promises to be filled with fun\, excitement\, and plenty of opportunities to win big while supporting a good cause. \nGuests will be able to try their luck at various casino games\, such as poker\, blackjack\, roulette\, and craps\, while also enjoying a variety of refreshments and entertainment throughout the evening. \nThe Casino Night event will kick off at 7 pm and run until 11 pm (doors open at 6:30 pm). Guests will have the chance to mingle\, network with like-minded individuals\, and participate in silent auctions while contributing to the fundraiser’s success. \n“We are thrilled to host our annual Casino Night event to help raise funds for RCTV’s initiatives\,” said RCTV President Crystal Hodson. “We believe that public access television is an essential tool for promoting community engagement\, and dialogue; unfortunately\, the rise of cord-cutting has had a significant impact on our funding for public access TV channels\, making it difficult for us to provide the same level of quality programming and community engagement\,” Hodson said. \nAll funds raised from the event will go towards supporting RCTVs mission to promote public access television and provide resources to help these channels continue to serve the community. \nTickets for the event are available for purchase on rctv.org or by contacting Angela Merrill at angela@rctv.org. Donations and sponsorships for the event are also welcome and greatly appreciated. \nFor more information on the fundraiser Casino Night or RCTV\, please visit rctv.org or contact RCTV Executive Director Philip Rushworth at phil@rctv.org or 781-944-8888.
