SUMMARY:International Overdose Awareness Day
DESCRIPTION:Police Chief David Clark and Director Erica McNamara would like to invite the community to join the Reading Police Department\, the Reading Coalition for Prevention & Support and the Mystic Valley Public Health Coalition as they recognize International Overdose Awareness Day. \nReading Police\, the Reading Coalition for Prevention & Support\, and the Mystic Valley Public Health Coalition will come together to recognize International Overdose Awareness Day in Reading\, and to spread the word about a coming project to remember loved ones lost to overdose. \nSpeakers will include Chief Clark\, Director Erica McNamara of the Reading Coalition for Prevention and Support\, and Reading Town Manager Fidel Maltez. \nInternational Overdose Awareness Day seeks to facilitate a better understanding of overdose\, reduce the stigma of drug-related deaths\, and create change that reduces the harms associated with drug misuse. \nStatistics and anecdotal evidence for this year show that the situation is becoming ever-more critical\, exacerbated in many areas by the pandemic decreasing the tolerance of people who use drugs and disrupting both services and the drug supply chain. \n\n“The opioid epidemic has shown all too clearly that overdose can affect anyone\, from any class level or position in life\, and that the resulting pain for families is devastating. I hope community members will join us as we recognize how much has been lost\, and work together to honor the memories of those whose lives were claimed by this disorder.” \nChief David Clark \n\nAdditionally\, the Reading Police Department would like to call attention to a regional story-gathering effort — A Walk to Remember — which is being led by the Reading Coalition for Prevention & Support in partnership with the Mystic Valley Public Health Coalition. \nThe organizations will be gathering stories from around the region (Malden\, Medford\, Melrose\, Reading\, Stoneham\, Wakefield and Winchester) to honor those lost to substance misuse. These stories will be displayed at a special event in September to promote understanding\, compassion\, and change. An online story display also will be made available. \nTo learn more about International Overdose Awareness Day\, visit: https://www.overdoseday.com/. \nAbout The Reading Coalition\nThe Reading Coalition for Prevention & Support\, formerly known as RCASA\, was established in 2006 in Reading. The coalition started as a town\, police\, school\, and community initiative focused on improving collaboration and reducing substance misuse. SUMMARY:RMLD to Host Live Q&A and Info Session on Air Source Heat Pumps
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a Live Q&A and Info Session on Air Source Heat Pumps! Wednesday\, August 17 – 7:00 pm\n\n \n\nRMLD and its contractor\, Abode Energy Management (Abode)\, are partnering to present an air source heat pump (ASHP) live Q&A and information session to RMLD customers on Wednesday\, August 17\, 2022\, at 7:00 pm.   An Air Source Heat Pump is an HVAC system powered by electricity that provides all-in-one heating and cooling. ASHPs offer many advantages over traditional oil\, propane\, and electric resistance systems including cost savings\, improved efficiency\, and reduced carbon emissions. Because of these benefits\, heat pumps have surged in popularity from an obscure technology in the Northeast to one of the area’s fastest growing installations for homes and buildings.   Titled\, Maximize Incentives and Rebates for Air Source Heat Pumps\, the live information session will include:\n\n \n\n How ASHPs work and their advantages; cost comparisons; options for cold climate systems\, available configurations\, and keeping your existing system\n RMLD’s per ton rebate\, add-ons\, and the rebate process; and additional informational resources\n A live question-and-answer session to address customer’s burning heat pump questions\n\n \n\nThe session will be recorded and posted on RMLD’s website for those unable to attend live\, and customers are encouraged to ask questions live or email them ahead of time to webinars@rmld.com.\n\n \n\nWe hope you can join us!
