Mental Health First Aid for Older Adults is for those that want to support elders ages 60+. \nThe instructor\, Taunya L. Jarzyniecki\, is credentialed through the National Council on Mental Well-being for Mental Health First Aid USA. Join us for all 4 sessions to become certified as a first aider on September 5\, 14\, 21 and 28 from 4-6 pm and Dec. 7 at the Reading Public Library. (PLEASE NOTE: First session is on Tuesday and the remaining sessions are on Thursday).\nRegistration is required and spaces limited. Emelia Attridge of First Congregational Church\nWHAT:\nReading Police\, the Reading Coalition for Prevention & Support\, and the Mystic Valley Public Health Coalition will come together to recognize International Overdose Awareness Day in Reading.\n\n\nSpeakers will include Reading Town Manager Fidel Maltez and Director Erica McNamara of the Reading Coalition for Prevention and Support.\n\n\n\nInternational Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD) seeks to facilitate a better understanding of overdose\, reduce the stigma of drug-related deaths\, and create change that reduces the harms associated with drug misuse. The IOAD 2023 theme\, “Recognizing those people who go unseen\,” is about acknowledging people those who are affected by overdose but might go unseen in the crisis.\n\n\n\nAt the event and for the week following\, the coalition invites the community to view the regional story-gathering exhibit — A Walk to Remember — on the Town Common.
