DESCRIPTION:If you have preconceptions of Shakespearean productions as featuring men in tights whose necks are festooned with uncomfortable-looking Elizabethan ruffs\, throw them away!! This version of Merry Wives of Windsor sets the 400+ year old play in the 1950s. \nJoin us for this final iteration of March Matinees: it may well change your idea of what an afternoon with The Bard can be!

SUMMARY:🎨 Reading Art Association March Demonstration
DESCRIPTION:Reading Art Association will he hosting a watercolor demonstration at the First Congregational Church on Woburn Street in Reading on March 13\, 2024. Our demonstrator will be Michele O’Neil. The demo will start at 7:30 PM on March 13\, 2024. The entrance to the demo is the middle side door on Sanborn Street. \nMore details about the demo and directions to the Church are on the RAA website\, www.readingart.org \nContemporary artist Michele O’Neil resides on the coast of Cape Ann. This reverence for her surroundings brings her canvas and brushes “en plein air” allowing the energy of the experience to lead her creative process. Michele’s bold watercolors are an attempt to try to capture the energy and fleeting moment of her experience. If she travels\, her easel travels with her so that any opportunities of inspiration are not wasted. Michele has studied and taken workshops with several famous contemporary artists. She has won numerous awards across Cape Ann and continues to be an active part in the classical art community. \nYou can see some of her work at her web site\, https://www.oneilfineart.com/about

SUMMARY:🎭 "Something Rotten" presented by The RMHS Drama Club
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the Renaissance and the outrageous\, crowd-pleasing musical farce\, Something Rotten. Created by Grammy Award-winning songwriter Wayne Kirkpatrick\, and successful screenwriters Karey Kirkpatrick and John O’Farrell\, Something Rotten was lauded by audience members and critics alike\, receiving several Best Musical nominations and hailed by Time Out New York as “the funniest musical comedy in at least 400 years”. \nSet in the 1590s\, brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rock star known as “The Bard.” When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing\, dancing and acting at the same time\, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first musical. But amidst the scandalous excitement of opening night\, the Bottom Brothers realize that reaching the top means being true to thine own self\, and all that jazz. \nSomething Rotten features large song and dance numbers\, and a wacky cast of over-the-top characters\, each given his or her own special moment in the show to shine. Throughout its Broadway run\, the musical received a show-stopping standing ovation from audiences… in the beginning of the first act!
