SUMMARY:🎨 Reading Art Association October Demonstration
DESCRIPTION:On October 8\, 2025 the Reading Art Association will host a demonstration by Karen Nastuk. Karen will demonstrate her watercolor technique. \nThe meeting will be held in Guild Hall\, First Congregational Church (middle side door)\, Sanborn Street\, Reading\, Wednesday October 8\, 2025 at 7:30 p.m. \nMore information about Karen and this demo is available on the RAA website. \nhttp://www.readingart.org/oct2025demo.shtml \nKaren Nastuk holds a BA in Fine Arts from Fairleigh Dickenson University. Soon after graduating\, she began studying watercolor with David Millard. Later\, she continued her studies with Margaret Laurie and Betty Lou Schlemm. Karen is able to draw just about anything from memory\, a talent she attributes to her many years of keeping a journal with sketches. Her paintings regularly win awards at local shows. \nKaren states\, “I can put an idea into an easy-to-understand\, visual form\, whether it’s a cartoon\, a diagram\, a series of illustrations\, or a full-scale painted realistic vision.” Karen uses many styles and subjects for her work – line drawings in pencil or pen\, watercolor botanicals\, buildings (both interior and exterior)\, and portraits of people and animals. She feels that watercolors are her best medium because they are liberating and natural. Karen is a popular teacher of drawing and painting and is on the faculty of the Essex Art Center. \nFor more information about Karen\, visit her website. https://fineartists.boston/karen-nastuk/

SUMMARY:🎭 "Something Rotten" presented by The RMHS Drama Club
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the Renaissance and the outrageous\, crowd-pleasing musical farce\, Something Rotten. Created by Grammy Award-winning songwriter Wayne Kirkpatrick\, and successful screenwriters Karey Kirkpatrick and John O’Farrell\, Something Rotten was lauded by audience members and critics alike\, receiving several Best Musical nominations and hailed by Time Out New York as “the funniest musical comedy in at least 400 years”. \nSet in the 1590s\, brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rock star known as “The Bard.” When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing\, dancing and acting at the same time\, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first musical. But amidst the scandalous excitement of opening night\, the Bottom Brothers realize that reaching the top means being true to thine own self\, and all that jazz. \nSomething Rotten features large song and dance numbers\, and a wacky cast of over-the-top characters\, each given his or her own special moment in the show to shine. Throughout its Broadway run\, the musical received a show-stopping standing ovation from audiences… in the beginning of the first act!
